More than 2 years of experience working hand-in-hand, shoulder-to-shoulder with families and communities at home and abroad has taught us that poverty need not be a life sentence. By working directly in communities, CAVUP Uganda’s approach to relief, recovery and ongoing development has nurtured the seeds of hope for thousands of children, youth, women and elderly people in different areas.

 

1 Child Protection

For more than four years, CAVUP Uganda has been protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence in Uganda. Our programs focus on the most vulnerable children while aiming for the safety and well-being of all children.

 

2 Youth Protection

CAVUP Uganda Rehabilitates and combats illegal activities in slums like use of drugs and prostitution. We focus on cross cultural exchanges by the elderly people from different tribes, films on different cultures, and Dealing with bar managers and attendants in identifying the prostitutes. CAVUP Uganda supports youth led activities to promote behavior change among peers, including dramas, songs, dances, film, and the distribution of T-shirts and posters with HIV prevention messages.

 

3 Skills development

CAVUP Uganda in conjunction with specialists develops skills of Vulnerable People. CAVUP Uganda’s main focus is on Mechanic training, carpentry training, Art and craft training, Netting training, catering, Hair dressing, tailoring, and Binding books

 

4 Health and Nutrition

CAVUP Uganda works to ensure that youths, children, their mothers and other caregivers have access to and use key health and nutrition services as well as adopt healthy behaviors. Focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention for youth, CAVUP Uganda supports youth led activities to promote behavior change among peers, including dramas, songs, dances, film, and the distribution of T-shirts and posters with HIV prevention messages.

 

Elderly welfare: CAVUP Uganda gives basic needs like food, shelter, clothing and health services to the elderly people in slums who are vulnerable.

 

5 Environmental protection

CAVUP Uganda works with the community in slums and other stakeholders on protecting the environment in slums areas through Tree planting, and Waste management such as;   Garbage recycling, and briquettes making.

 

6 Talent Development

CAVUP Uganda develops talents of Vulnerable People in Uganda. Our main focus is on; Football, Volleyball, Boxing, Netball, Chess, Table tennis, Scrabble, Athletics, Swimming, Field Hockey, Cricket, Rugby, music dance and drama

 

7 Saving groups

CAVUP Uganda helps Vulnerable People to formulate and manage saving groups.

 

8 Urban farming

CAVUP Uganda promotes urban farming among Vulnerable People. Our main focus is on mushroom, greens, vegetables, and poultry
